Partner, Active Philanthropy

The charitable platform Active Philanthropy partners with leading business families throughout Europe to foster meaningful and lasting impact in the world. It accomplishes this mission by offering an array of services such as tailor-made advisory and project management for individuals or families, hands-on, experienced-based workshops, and regular convenings for aspiring and existing philanthropists and social investors. In addition, Active offers expeditions to explore future trends and their impacts on society, and facilitates discussions how these trends will influence our role as donors and social investors. Because of plans to increase the number and reach of these expeditions, we are now looking for a Partner who will take over responsibility for overseeing the mission and development of advisory and project management services, workshops and convenings at Active Philanthropy.


  • Set strategic vision as well as outline and monitor organizational targets and financial goals for philanthropic and impact investing offerings
  • Steward and maintain current relationships with people in network in order to deepen their engagement in Active’s mission and activities
  • Build the services, especially around advisory and project management, and build the Active team
  • Identify and recruit new donors and social investors to the network and appropriately seek their financial support or event participation
  • Network with a variety of sector players and leaders as a means to effectively understand leading-edge trends and to connect donors to field experts as a key added value service
  • Report and work directly with AP’s shareholder board
  • Facilitate workshops and family/personal coaching sessions
  • Act as a public spokesperson at organization-hosted events (about 4-6 per year) as well as at sector-hosted conferences and with the press
  • Approve budgets and operational activities
  • Ensure compliance in all areas of business
  • Supervision of part of the AP team


  • Pioneering and curious spirit on all matters of philanthropy, social investing and global social challenges
  • Minimum of 8 years professional experience in the field, ideally with a focus on working with donors and social investors. Experience in consulting and impact/social investing would be a strong advantage.
  • Strong relationship building skills to recruit high level and diverse community members
  • Highly developed social and leadership abilities
  • Proven success in fundraising
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Highly motivated and flexible
  • Strong personal network in the sector
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentially in all areas of work
  • Proficient with MS Software
  • Comfortable using a database and other cloud and app-based programs, experience with Salesforce a plus
  • Fluent English, another foreign language would be an advantage
  • A level of intermediate German is indispensable for the position
  • Must be able and willing to travel

The position would not necessarily have to be based in Berlin, but would require regular stays in Berlin (about 1 week a month min.)
